Welcome Letter

Region 16 ESC and the Statewide Parent and Family Engagement Initiative is excited
to invite you to the VIRTUAL 2021 Statewide Parental Involvement Conference
December 9-10, 2021. We are disappointed we cannot meet in person this year to
protect our attendees in this uncertain environment. It is our hope to see you face-
to-face in 2022. This is our 18 th year to host this exceptional event. Educators,
parents, and community leaders will come together to learn strategies that
empower stakeholders to work cohesively to pursue a sustainable and systematic
parent and family engagement program with the ultimate goal is to increase
student achievement.

For every child to succeed we must meet and exceed the required mandates of the
Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). Texas Education Agency (TEA) staff will present
multiple concurrent sessions to provide the most up-to-date ESSA legislative
requirements. Highly effective parent and family engagement practitioners from
around the state will provide evidence-based strategies to enhance family and
community engagement. Concurrent sessions will also address cultural sensitivity,
virtual learning, study skills, bullying, and cyber safety. Translation will be provided
through the virtual platform. More information will be provided later.

Join us virtually as we work together toward a common goal, which is student
success: success in the classroom, success in the community, and students
demonstrating respect and possessing confidence among their peers. Student
outcomes will be positively impacted as home, school, and community grow
stronger together.
